Do you worry whether the airfare you found online is truly the cheapest available? You would be surprised to know how many travel-savvy internet users are only clicks away from easy, big savings. In order to find the cheapest ticket, 3 quick steps should be followed.

1) Which website to use? Many already know of a few, but it may surprise you find out not all discount websites have the same database and pricing. It is recommended to try your dates and destination with the following:

Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline (all .com)

And finally, the "grand daddy" of airfare websites, http://www.kayak.com - This searches not only a huge database of flights, but picks cheap flights from the above competitors as well. If you only search one, this is it.

All in all, referencing all these should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes and the savings can easily be in the hundreds. Creating a new account takes only minutes - Believe me, they make it easy!

2) When are you flying? It's common sense to book as far ahead as possible. However, here are some important things to remember:

Flying Monday-Thursday is universally the least expensive way to go. So many people unknowingly spend hundreds unnecessarily when they could book their flight a day sooner or later. When checking the aforementioned websites, Try to shift the dates of your flights (if at all flexible) a day or two on both ends of your round trip. Certain combinations can save 250% or more - Airfare rates work in mysterious ways, but they're beatable.

3) A little known secret: The service fee the big discount websites charge can be avoided entirely. Once you're figured out your flight itinerary and airline, simply exit out of that discount booking's window and go directly to the airline's website. Search for the same dates, and that flight will obviously appear. Booking directly from the airline will save you between 5-20 dollars immediately. Not bad for 60 seconds of effort.
